So my favorite story from the entire Olympics is that of my favorite gossip blogger, Lainey, being accused of getting Scott Lago kicked out of the Olympics after he won his medal.

So the story goes, Scott Lago won a bronze medal for the USE, then was photographed out later having some chick doing some inappropriate things to the medal.  The US Olympic commission caught wind of it and asked him to leave.

Separately, last week at the Olympics, Lainey of laineygossip.com, was invited to Micahel Phelps’s Olympic party.  If you have been reading our blog long enough you will know that we always talk about our Freebie Five which is a big part of Lainey’s blog, and her #1 during the Summer Olympics was Michael Phelps.  So Dan Levy and Jessi Cruickshank of MTV Canada (whom I love) were on CTV with her before said party and dared her to try and kiss him on the check when she was posing for a picture with him.  Bonus points would have been allotted if she could find out what type of cologne he was wearing plus more if she could get his phone number.  Lainey blogged about the experience and it was pretty funny.  Unfortunately, Lainey had no luck on the kiss but Jessi was able to get much closer.

Then Scott Lago went on Jimmy Kimmell to talk about the fact that he was asked to leave by the US Olympic committee.  All was good until he explained that his friend who is also friends with Michael Phelps, recognized the girl in the photos with him as the same girl that was trying to “make out” with Michael Phelps during his party.  See photos above for reference.

And what is funny is that a bunch of gossip sites jumped on the story and started blaming Lainey for this guy getting kicked out of the Olympics, which she was all bent out of shape about.  Lainey, I totally love you, but you have to admit that the irony of the situation is pretty funny.

However, for Scott Lago, this makes him look incredibly ignorant.  Firstly, Not all Asian people look the same.  Maybe before going on national television and blaming one person for something that someone else did, he should get his facts straight.  Secondly, maybe he should try taking responsibility for his actions rather than placing responsibility on someone else.  Because this is classic spoiled athlete/celebrity behaviour.  Hey!  Its not my fault!  That girl over there made me do it!  I am an innocent victim.

Why not just say “Hey, I made a bad decision.  I am sorry.”  Because now not only does Scott look like a brat, he also looks like a bigot.  Icky.

Its pretty funny though how Lainey managed to get tangled up in all this.  The blogger becomes the bloggee.

Tanya: This feels so Perez Hilton-y. Calling people out and then getting upset when they call you out = uncool. It’s funny because it’s not really her and I don’t blame her for defending herself. Sorry for laughing at your expense Lainey, but it is a pretty funny story
