Child star Corey Haim was found dead this morning in his California apartment of an apparent drug overdose.

You may remember Corey from The Lost Boys (one of my personal favs).

And while I know it is very popular for Hollywood types to write each other off and then when one passes away suddenly everyone was their friend and they stand up and say what great people they were, I am going to go another direction.

Yes, it is sad that he died.  38 is so young to go.  But I have a hard time feeling sorry for these young stars who are given ever opportunity in the world to succeed and have a life that most of us only dream of and then they squander it away and eventually die of a drug over dose.

I hope all the young stars out there are paying attention to this *ahem* Lindsay Lohan *ahem* because this is a path that each and every one of them can find themselves on if they don’t take care of themselves.

So sad.

Tanya: I was reading on TMZ that he had battled prescription drug addiction in the past. Also, Rick James died in the same building.

Sad day.
