    Happy story of the day!

About a month ago Jesse James, from West Coast Choppers (and Sandra Bullocks hubby) put out  fliers for his dog, Cinnabun, after the pit bull had gone missing.  Which is horrible, because more often than not, when dogs go missing, like Jessica Simpson’s dog Daisy, they are never found again.

But lucky for Jesse a lady contacted him earlier this week to say she had found Cinnabun and recognized him from the fliers!  Hooray!  How often do we get a happy end to a potentially sad story. Pretty much never!

And I am so happy for Jesse.  I mean, look at this picture!  Isn’t that the best picture?  Look how happy they are!

I know what it is like when one of your fury friends goes missing.  Its pretty much the worst feeling in the world; just not knowing if you are ever going to find them.  My one dog, Anni, is an escape artist.  Plus she is part Australian Shepard so I think she likes to go on walkabouts.  Anyways, she has gotten out of our yard 3 times.  Once we found her, the second time we had to go rescue her from doggy jail (the pound) and the third time, she was hit by a car.  Don’t worry though!  A police officer saw her get hit and took her to the vet hospital (the person who hit her just drove away) where they were able to ID her by her tattoo and took excellent care of her.  She is great now and I think has learned her lesson about running away because she hasn’t done it since.

Thank goodness there are people in this world who stop to care for lost animals.  I always do it, because what goes around comes around and I always hope someone would help one of my guys if they were away from home.  I mean, who wouldn’t help these guys.  Look at those faces! Anni is on the right and Stan is on the left.  Stan is a little camera shy and hates having his picture taken.

Tanya: Awwwww. I love your dogs. Even though I’m not much of a dog person Stan & Anni totally won me over :) And I’m so glad that Cinnabun found her way home!! Yay!!

Update: Today Sandra Bullock tried to help out a dog that was loose running around town. What goes around comes around :)

Stacey: Awww, this story gives me warm fuzzies.

Radiohead is my fave so it makes me extra happy to see them put on a concert for a good cause. All $572,754 of the proceeds from their concert went to the OXFAM Haiti Relief Fund.

Lots of celebs checked it out. You can see more photos over at Socialite Life. I chose this one for the story cover because the dude holding it is using some tissues so as to not get fingerprints on it. What, is it a collectors item? If that person sells it on eBay they better donate the money or else they’re taking a charitable cause and totally exploiting it for their own gain. Not cool.

(Thank you Celebitchy for this story and picture)

So ya.  Reason # 1042 that I love Colin Farrell…he visits sick children in the hospital on Christmas day. And brought them presents. So sweet.  And totally swoon worthy.  Apparently, this is something he does quite often.  Colin’s first son, James, was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, which is a rare neuro genetic condition, and ever since then Colin has been active in philanthropy related to support of children’s hospitals or special needs organizations.

Doing good.  Doesn’t that decrease Colin’s sleaze score a little bit, Tanya?

Tanya: Yes. Visiting sick children & bringing them presents on Christmas Day decreases the sleaze score. A lot. In fact I find it a bit attractive. If Colin Farrell is on next years list this will help him out big time.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie donated $100,000 as a Christmas gift to the American SOS Children’s Villages.

Angie: “We have seen first-hand the remarkable job SOS does to raise orphaned and abandoned children and keep families together. No one ‘ages out’ of an SOS Village: vocational training, advanced education, living assistance and moral support are there forever.”

Brad: “In this holiday season, many of us take for granted that we are surrounded by loving family members. The poor outcomes for foster children indicate that we must do a much better job of supporting them.”

Stacey: This photo cracks me up.  It looks like someone is peering out from behind Brad.

Taylor Swift with Straight HairInstead of spending money at the bar on cocaine for her 20th birthday, Taylor Swift donated $250K to public schools around the US that she has been associated with over the years. The money will pay for books, teachers’ salaries and programs.

Props to Taylor Swift for giving back!

Photo is of her last week with some super straight hair. I gotta say I prefer the curls. Maybe because my hair is super straight and I’m jealous of her curly hair. The grass is always greener.

SPL142851_001We give Lindsay Lohan a lot of crap on this site (and to be perfectly honest I hold myself back from posting Lindsay bashing posts all the time) so I think it’s only fair that we give her plight to India a little bit of attention as it might actually be a good deed.

Lindz is in India with the BBC to bring attention to the problem of human trafficking in India. She’s been there a day or two and is Tweeting about her greatness: “Over 40 children saved so far… Within one day’s work… This is what life is about… Doing THIS is a life worth living!!!” Later she added “Oh, and I’m talking about being in India.”

One day & 40 children saved? Pretty impressive. I remain skeptic, but I have to give her some props for trying.

Stacey: How did she save them?  By getting them to guess how old she truly is then when they all say 37 she says no I am 23 so don’t do drugs kids or you will look like me when you turn 20?

I would give her props for trying except for the fact that she is only doing it to get publicity and save her career.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie are generousStacey, this photo made me think of you because you frequently mention that you don’t like Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie because you think they have a “Holier than Thou” complex :)

BUT… maybe they earned it. According to their charity tax return they gave $6.8 Million to charities in 2008. How much did you give?

Stacey: That is a lot of money to donate and that is great.

However, giving that money does not make them better than everyone else.  Having the ability to give away money does not make you a better person.

Tanya: True. Having the ability to do so doesn’t make you a better person, but actually doing so does IMO. Lots of people who are able to don’t, and lots of people who don’t have much still give what they can which I think is wonderful.

And finally, in news other than New Moon or bashing celebs, here is some good karma.

My husband has joined the global movement to grow a mustache in Movember, the month formerlly known as November.  He has committed to grow a lip friend for the entire month to bring awareness to Prostate Cancer.

Over a decade ago his grandfather lost his battle with prostate cancer and at that time is was a topic that was
rarely talked about. Since then, the times have changed and the word is out.

What many people don’t know is that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer to afflict Canadian men with 25,500 diagnosed and 4,400 dying from the disease each year.  And because of these stats, my hubby is hoping that his hair growth will entice those to also give their support in the form of a donation.

To make a donation you can do one of two things:

-Click this link http://ca.movember.com/mospace/387926/ and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account , or
    - Write a cheque payable to Prostate Cancer Canada, referencing his Registration Number 387926 and mailing it to: Prostate Cancer Canada, 145 Front Street East, Ste. 306, Toronto, ON M5A 1E3, Canada.

Prostate Cancer Canada will use the money raised by Movember for the development of programs related to awareness, public education, advocacy, support of those affected, and research into the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of prostate cancer.

If you can, please donate!  You never know who in your life may be effected by this.

Twizler: My grandpa died from prostate cancer too :( No fun. So I have to say that I’m particularly happy for Movember. Way to go for raising money!! WOOO!! Good luck making it through the month!

Elisha Cuthbert & Dion Phaneuf carve pumpkins with kidsOur local celebs Elisha Cuthbert & Dion Phaneuf spent some time at the Ronald McDonald house carving pumpkins with kids like Honza Crema (above) who are living in the RM house while their siblings are getting treatment at the Children’s Hospital. A good story to kick of Halloween weekend!

Stacey: Awww, this is sweet.  On the Fan 960 the other day they were talking about how the Flames were doing interviews but all of them were most excited to go to the Ronald McDonald house to see the kids.  It must really be a cool experience.  FOr both the kids and the players.  Love to see them giving back to the community.

    Happy Halloween!
