(Pic: http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Fitting+Conn+Thomas+stole+show/4953629/story.html)

Well, another year in the NHL is over and the Boston Bruins have been crowned the Stanley Cup champions. Much to the dismay of many Vancouver Canuck fans who, after the loss last night, decided the best way to deal with their feelings was to riot in the streets, injuring hundreds and causing what I am sure is hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.

And it is such big news that it even made it on to TMZ, where they have a video of a Canucks fan getting a flash grenade to the crotch. Hilarious.

But do you know what isn’t hilarious? The shame that these people who rioted after the game have brought to their city. Vancouver is an amazing town and has such amazing people who live there. They did a wonderful job of hosting the Olympics and represented our country so well. Its a shame that they now have this image being splashed across TV screens around the world. So what gives? What makes people do this? What makes people destroy their beautiful city and act with complete disregard for those around them?

This does not reflect the majority of people in Vancouver, nor their fans. Its unfortunate that a few bad apples can ruin it for everyone. For shame.

Because I hate Roberto Luongo and it probably wouldn’t be nice to rub in that Bobby Lou choked in the last round, I thought I would post a picture of Tim Thomas, who’s hard work, dedication to the sport, and tenacity has helped him get to where he is today; a Stanley Cup Champion and Conn Smyth trophy winner. Want to hear the saddest/sweetest story in the world? Tim’s family was apparently not very well off when he was growing up. So much so that his parents pawned their wedding rings to pay for Tim to go to goalie school as a kid.

Congrats to the Bruins. For shame Vancouver rioters.

Tanya: As much as I would have liked Vancouver to win, Boston totally deserved this one. WTG Boston!

(Pic: http://twitpic.com/4n3qj2)

Just so everyone knows, I hate Roberto Luongo. Hate. He is literally my least favorite hockey player to EVER play the game. Here in Calgary there is a pretty fierce rivaly between the Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks. Unfortunately, my Flames didn’t make it to the playoffs. Sad face. But the Canucks did. Double sad face,

So, it has really been chapping my ass that the Vancouver Canucks took a commanding 3 – 0 series lead against their arch rivals, the Chicago Blackhawks, last years Stanley Cup winners.

The big knock against Luongo has always been that while he is good, he can’t seem to keep it together in the most important games. Take for example, the Olympics last year. Canada held a 2 – 0 lead over the USA and Luongo allowed the USA to tie it up with about 2 minutes to go in the game. We won in spite of him, not because of him. And this has been proven the last two years in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Both years the Canucks have been outsted by the Hawks. Luongo just can’t seem to keep his poop in a group.

And last night it seems it was much of the same. The far superior Canucks go into the game poised to sweep the Hawks…all they have to do is win this game.

And what happens? They get spanked 7 -2, with Luongo getting the hook after 6 of the goals.

And this picture of Vince Vaughn pointing and laughing at him after one of the goals last night is literally…LITERALLY….making my life.

Best. Picture. Ever.

Haha. Stupid Luongo.

Tanya: Whatever. I like Luongo.

I showed this picture to my husband and he said “Vince Vaughn always makes that face. What’s the big deal?”

Stacey: The big deal is that he is pointing and laughing. It’s funny. Just because you are a Luongo fan, you don’t see it. But this post wasn’t for you. It was for me.

(Pic: Just Jared)

Here are some pics of Tom Hardy and Leo DiCaprio hitting up a Lakers game yesterday. Why is this important? Well, my hubby and I just bought tickets last night to see the Miami Heat play the LA Lakers when we are in Miami. So excited!

And because the Heat and the Lakers are pretty much the biggest teams in the NBA and each have some of the biggest stars (LaBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant, Ron Artest, Lamar Odom) I am pretty sure that there are going to be some celebs there and my wish of seeing a celeb in Miami will come true.

Except I will probably need binoculars to see them because our seats are waaaaaaay up there. Because there is no way in heck that we could afford court side seats. The going price? $15,000.00. Each. Yes, you read that right. I know. That’s insane right? And guys like Leo and Jack Nicholson have season tickets.

So, I will have to settle for waving to them from the nose bleeds. It is going to rock!

Tanya: I wonder if Leo has to pay face value for his tickets or if they work something out because his mere presence is good publicity for the organization? See those guys sitting down from Tom Hardy, they paid full price. They probably own some tech company in Silicone Valley. Leo & Tom Hardy? I bet they get theirs for super cheap.

Is Leo wearing lifts?

(Pic: puckhuffers.blogspot.com)

For those who don’t know me very well, one of the other loves in my life besides Hollywood smut is hockey. And it is very rare that these two passions ever overlap. But when they do, I eat it up.

And this weekend some hockey news made it on to TMZ. Why? Not sure but I was pretty enthusiastic to see it on there. Apparently, Toronto Maple Leafs’ defenseman, Mike Komisarek was named in a police report filed by an LA woman (lol, that made me start singing The Doors in my head) claiming the player punched her in the face at an LA club.

According to the report, Mike picked her up ion the air (who does this?) and wouldn’t put her down so she slapped him in the face. I guess, after she slapped him, he put her down and punched her. I am not saying this woman is lying but I am trying to picture a man picking a woman up in the air, and being able to hold her there, but while also being in a position for her to be able to slap him in the face. So far, I can’t figure it out, but thats just me.

But that isn’t the strangest thing about this whole story. The strange thing is that TMZ calls Komiserak both an NHL “all-star” and “powerhouse defenceman”. I would never use either of those words to describe Komiserak. Clearly they have been given some bad information because.

PS. This is another one of the NHL players that Elisha Cuthbert has dated. For anyone keeping track, thats three NHL stars. And for anyone else keeping track, all three of them are giant douchebags. She really can pick them.

Tanya:I’m not sure why you don’t believe this, but I totally do. Hockey players (well, pretty much all pro athletes) tend to think they’re God’s gift to the ladies and don’t understand when they say “no” (I don’t really need to give you examples, do I?). And from what I hear, most hockey players are also giant douchebags on top of that.

You don’t think he could hold a woman over his head? He’s a pro athlete that trains probably 5 days a week. And I think the average LA Woman weighs 98lbs. You don’t believe he punched her in the face? These guys are conditioned to react when someone else is instigating. I bet his friends cheered him on while he was doing it.

Stacey: I am not saying that something didn’t go down but the account of this situation is making me scratch my head.

Think about it. A man holding a woman above his head. So her head would have to be behind him at that point. And she slaps him in the face? From behind? Sorry, I am not buying that.

What I think is more likely is that he was hitting on her, she rebuffed him, he said something douchey to her, she slapped him, then he punched her. I just think the whole idea of him picking her up in the air is completely ridiculous. I think she made up a reason other than “he was being an asshole” to be able to smack him.

And since we are on this subject, while I think athletes tend to be entitled assholes, I also think that sometimes they are targets for people as well. While a lot of them behave poorly, I think there are instances when maybe people are making stuff up/embellishing the story in order to gain money and/or fame. Am I saying this woman is lying? Maybe. But we can’s sit here and say that athletes always act the way people claim they do. Because there have been instances where it has been proven that the accuser is lying. Just sayin’.

There is just something about this, to me, that doesn’t add up. Just like when Tiger’s ex-wife smashed out the back window of his car with a golf club. They said it was to “save” him because he crashed his car. Ummm, no. It just didn’t make sense. Am I saying nothing went down? No. But because I am getting weird vibes from this story, I just think maybe we aren’t getting the whole/real truth. Maybe.

(Pic: Dlisted)

This actually made me laugh yesterday. Some receiver for the Buffalo Bills botched a game winning catch and then after the game took to Twitter to blame God for his Epic Fail.

At first I thought he was a stupid idiot. How ridiculous is this tweet? And then I read it to my hubby to get his agreement and smart ass-ed comment that I was sure would accompany such an absurd statement.

But he rained on my parade and had this to say: “If he is going to thank God when he succeeds it only makes sense that he also share the blame when he fails”.

Damn him and his logic.

I still think it’s funny though. What a strange thing to do though, right? Out and out blame God for your dropping a pass? Maybe blame your hands. Or your brain. Because clearly there was a malfunction at the junction there. But I guess he doesn’t want to take responsibility for it. If I were to blame someone though, I would go maybe QB first before God.

Tanya: This is something I have to tell my husband all the time: no matter how hard you pray for your team to win, there are millions of other fans and players for the other 31 teams that are praying just as hard. Does your team losing mean that God has forsaken you personally? No. Does it mean that He likes a different team more? Probably not. It probably just means that the other team trained harder, and in this case, actually completed their catches. God didn’t make Stevie Johnson drop the ball, Stevie Johnson did that one all on his own.

The Black Eyed Peas will be playing at the Superbowl for the Half Time show.

I think the Black Eyed Peas basically sold their souls for pop stardom (in the form of Fergie – and it looks like its working out alright for them) so when they were announced as the Half Time performers for the Superbowl this year my first response was “meh”. But I’ve changed my mind on that one. In fact, I’m super pumped that Black Eyed Peas will be playing the Superbowl.

Why the change of heart? Because as souless as the Black Eyed Peas have become they’re still relevant music that I’d be interested in. It seems like every half time performance from the last 10 years or so have been done by bands that either no longer exist or should no longer exist as a group. I was beginning to get the impression that the NFL thinks that only 65yr old, white, rednecks watch the Superbowl. I was expecting them to announce Crosby, Stills & Nash to perform this year with special guest Willie Nelson.

Don’t get me wrong – those guys still have a spot in music – but when it comes to one of the largest sporting events of the year and you have a huge audience tuned in you should go for something current. Something exactly like the Black Eyed Peas.

Stacey: I like the BEP. A lot actually. And I will actually disagree on the soulless part. Their whole objective is to get their music out to as many people as possible, spread the word of love, peace, and equality. I don’t think that is soulless. Will.I.Am is actually huge in the electronic music scene right now, bringing together artists that normally would not have the chance to participate in one another’s genre. I think that is pretty cool. And innovative.

I have actually really enjoyed the last few years musical guests. And I will tune in this year for the BEP too

(Pics: from Marlon Wayans’ Plixi)

Ok, peeps. I need to toot my own horn a little here. Well, rather, toot the horn of the company I work for. Over the last year and half we have been working on the marketing, strategy, and design for a new product on the market; a single use breathalyzer by Blow Before You Go. Its super easy to use, 98% accurate and it helps you make an informed decision on whether or not you are impaired; not for those nights when you know you have had one to many but for those instances where you are unsure.

Anyways, one of our marketing pushes has been at Calgary Flames Games. We have had a kiosk selling product and informing the public as well as being on the power ring and jumbo tron. Pretty cool. Well, every once in a while, we get celebrities at the games and last night Marlon and Shawn Wayans were there (White Chicks, Scary Movie, etc) and during the game they tweeted and posted pictures of them using the product! So awesome.

Sorry for the shameless plug but I am just so excited!

Tanya: Sweet! It’s always fun to see celebs at the games and it’s even funner to see them using products that you’re marketing!! Double whammy!

The New York Jets sexually harassed a hot reporter <- wait, did I just sexually harass her too?

The hubby and I were watching football yesterday and one of the sideline reporters was this 50+ woman in a matronly outfit and my hubby said “why can’t they ever get hot girls to do the reporting?”. Well, I hate to be Captain Obvious but a young hot chick doing the sideline reporting is probably either going to a) get harassed by a whole team of football players who have a history of entitlement, or b) take advantage of all the hot man meat and be too embarrassed to come back to work the next day.

News this morning is that the New York Jets are under investigation for sexual harassment after the team was “hooting and hollering” at Ines Sainz in the locker room.

You might be thinking to yourself: “This isn’t celebrity related at all” but that’s not true. Eli Manning is probably next on Joe Simpson’s list of football players he wants Jessica Simpson to date. Or Eli already turned Joe down and that’s why Jessica had to settle for her fathers #47th choice: unemployed, still married Eric Johnson.

Stacey: I am not condoning sexual harassmentin any way shape or form but why is this girl in the locker room in the first place? I’m sorry, but I don’t agree with that. You are sending some hot blond into the locker room after these guys have been on the field acting in a primal, macho way, they are literally pulsating with testosterone and aggression and then they send a chick in there to do interviews? That is a recipe for disaster. Should these men be more evolved? Probably. But can’t they find a guy to do those interviews?

There is almost too much hotness in these photos. David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo met up prior to the LA Galaxy and Real Madrid’s pre season friendly match up. Real Madrid won, obviously, but the real winners are us because now we have pictures of Becks and Crissy together. Plus, Becks is looking smokin’ hot in that suit and Crissy is bringing the quiveration with no shirt. Yummy!
