There is almost too much hotness in these photos.  David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo met up prior to the LA Galaxy and Real Madrid’s pre season friendly match up.  Real Madrid won, obviously, but the real winners are us because now we have pictures of Becks and Crissy together.  Plus, Becks is looking smokin’ hot in that suit and Crissy is bringing the quiveration with no shirt.  Yummy!

I have new found respect for Chicago Blackhawks player, Brent Sopel.  Before this I wasn’t a big fan.  I mean, he was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks and plays for the Hawks *barf* (Sorry, Megan).   But this story totally warms my heart.

Last year, Brendan Burke, son of Brian Burke (Toronto Maple Leaf’s GM), publicly came out as gay.  Because most sports organizations are super homophobic, it was a huge story because no one could believe that a hockey player could be gay.  News flash peeps.  There are approximately 800 players in the NHL; at least one of them is gay.  Anyways, Brian fully supported him and so did his friends and family and it was an all around good story because he was breaking stigmas and changing people’s views.

But just one month later, Brendan died tragically in a fatal car crash.  He was 22.

When an NHL team wins the the Stanley Cup, each player gets one day with the cup to do whatever he wants with it.  What is Brent Sopel doing?  Taking the cup in Chicago’s Gay Pride Parade.

When Brendan came out, Brian stood by him, and his whole family stood by him, like every family should. We teach our kids about accepting everybody. Tolerate everybody, to understand where everyone is coming from.”

Totally friggin’ awesome.  I have so much respect for Brent doing that.  What a great way to honor a friend.

Word on the street is that after the game she crashed the players’ clubhouse without their OK, drank a bunch of whisky, kept fondling her boobies and was acting a mess. As a result, she’s no longer welcome.

Stacey: I for one, applaud the Yankees for doing this.

Now, can we, as a society, please move on from Lady Gaga?  I am tired of her antics and her ridiculous outfits.  I think she is one of those people who have bought into there own BS.  I am over her.

I can’t decide.  Am I attracted to Cristiano Ronaldo or not?  He is pretty hot.  I mean, look at those abs.  And that face.

But he has been linked to The Unmentionable.  And he has been known to go out dressed like this. And I can’t deal with someone who is more concerned with shaving his legs than I am.  Or with those perfectly waxed eye brows.  Don’t get me wrong, I like a man to keep up on appearances but I don’t think I have seen a chick with eye brows that nice.

But he is incredibly talented.  And rich.  And those abs again.

But then I just go back to the shaved legs and eye brows.  Its cyclical.

See.  I can’t decide.

Tanya: He’s hot. He’s just “Euro” hot and not “American” hot.

Insiders claim Ronnie is “freaking out” and could even sue the magazine over the Annie Leibovitz photo-shoot.

“There are whispers that what really upset Ronaldo was that, having stripped off to his underpants for the shoot in Madrid, he didn’t envisage sharing the cover with another player photographed in Milan,” insiders told the New York Post.

Even though this is pretty standard practice in the magazine world, he and his managers insist only they have control of his image and where it can be used.

Over-reacting? Probably. But Ronaldo has a HUGE ego so who’s really surprised that he’s upset he had to share with Didier Drogba.

IMO, they could have fit at least one other practically naked, totally ripped man on there. And isn’t Vanity Fair a fashion mag? What are these guys doing on there anyway?

Stacey: Seriously, I thought the same thing.  Maybe they put them on there because they are super hot.  I think that sells fashion too.

Thoughts?

Me?  Obviously its an attempt by Nike, who famously stood by Tiger,  to humanize him and make his seem like he is just like the rest of us.  Do I buy it?  Hellz no!

Look, after the whole scandal broke, everyone was choosing sides, and there were a lot of people saying “why does everyone care? He just plays golf and wasn’t selling the wholesome image”.  Really?  Really?  I beg to differ.  Because if he wasn’t, why would he be trying to make amends by doing these stupid press conferences and releasing commercials trying to make it seem like he is just one of us?  Why?  Because he needs us to buy his image.  That’s how he makes his money.  He clearly wants all of us to buy this “I’m really really sorry” story.  If he wasn’t worried about saving his rep and his image, he would be off with his wife and children right now rather than trying to make a comeback at the Masters.  If it was just about the golf he wouldn’t be doing any of this extra crap.

I really could care less if he wins or loses.  It doesn’t matter to me because I could care less about golf.  But my own personal morals and values make me dislike what Tiger did and thus judge him as a person.  No Master’s win will make me buy into Tiger Woods again, because being a good golfer doesn’t make you a good person.  And if he was just trying to sell the golf, I wouldn’t be discussing the other side of it.  But he is attmepting to sell the whole package.  And I don’t believe him.

Brilliant marketing on Nike’s part though, because we are all talking about it right?

Tanya: I’ve been sick of the Masters for a week. Nobody except old men and my husband (…wait a minute, does that make him an old man now?) watch golf. All I hear everywhere is how this is Tiger’s “chance to show the world that he’s changed”. What? By playing golf? That’s the same thing he’s always done. Tiger’s performance on the golf course has nothing to do with his personal troubles. Let’s just let the man get back to work and maybe he can straighten out his personal life after the tournament.

Nike’s ad campaign is getting talked about and the Masters is expecting record ratings. Everybody wins.

I think this is something we should take part in. An ISS fitness day. Maybe we can all dress matchy-matchy like this:

Or we could make some I Smell Smut (I Sweat Smut?) t-shirts or something. We could do a bike ride, maybe some frisbee, or a game of Red Rover or TV tag or something. Let me know in the comments if you’re in and if you have any fitness suggestions.

Speaking of look-a-likes…

I like Sam Worthington.  And I find him super attractive.  While he is a little on the small side, I think he is super rugged, gruff…you know, manly.

But lately I have been getting this feeling like I have seen his face before and haven’t quite been able to place it.  Until the other day when I was watching TSN and a hockey player, one that we know and love to hate…Sean Avery.  And I thought, holy crap, he totally looks like someone I know…but who.  Then it came to me.  I had a dream about one of them, I am not sure which one, and when I woke up I made the connection.  They totally look a like.

And while some women will feel repulsed by the comparison because, well, Sean Avery is a documented douche, I am not totally turned off by it.  Its kind of like the John Mayer effect; it makes me want him. And while I would totally punch Sean in the face given the opportunity, I would also totally make out with him, given the opportunity. However, I am not at a point where I wish bodily harm on Sam, thank goodness, but I would totally make out with him.  I am not certain who I would choose to make out with first though.  Maybe Sean….maybe Sam…or are they the same person?

Is it just me or does anyone else see the likeness?

Tanya: Totally see the similarities. Doesn’t it seem like Sean Avery just emits ‘douche’ right from his eyeballs? It’s like I can smell beer and cologne just looking at him (or is that me?). I like them both but not in that kinda way.
