Beastie Boys – Fight For Your Right To Party
Tags: Beastie Boys – Fight For Your Right To PartyOk, peeps. I was hoping that I could post the new Beastie Boys video for their new single “Make Some Noise” but MTV isn’t allowing anyone to copy the embedding code so to see the new kick ass video go here, to MTV Canada. The video is amazing with cameos from basically anyone who is anyone.
My favorite thing about the video though is how great the actors nail the mannerisms of the Beastie Boys. Seth Rogan as Mike D, Danny Mcbride as MCA, and especially Elijah Wood as Ad-Rock. Its actually quite impressive.
So since I can’t post the new vid, here is the video for Fight for Your Right, for which the new vid is an homage. Can you believe it has been 25 years since this video came out? Amazingness.
PS. I know Ad-Rock is like old and everything now but I still totally love him. He is on my Lifetime Freebie Five list.
Tanya: LOVE this video. I nominate it for video of the year.

April 7th, 2011MoviesUmmm ya. In case there was any ever doubt on how AWESOME the Beastie Boys are…here is some more of their awesomeness.
Beasties + Will Ferrell + Danny Mcbride + Seth Rogen + Jack Black = epic awesomeness.
Can’t wait for their new album, Hottsauce Committee Part Two. What happened to Hotsauce Committee Part One? Who knows. But that is just part of the Beastie Boys awesomeness.
PS. Elijah Wood is a pretty kick ass Ad-rock. Who would have thunk it.
Tanya: This totally made my day. I love it. I’d love to be part of a free-style rapping, break-dancing, hoodlum gang, but I always got in trouble when I tried to be a hoodlum. Apparently walking around being as cool as the Beasties is so awesome they made it illegal.

I just happened to stumble across the new Beastie Boys website today. Its awesome. Just random things that they love or things they see and feel like sharing with you. And I felt like I needed to share it with you.
Why? Well, for obvious reasons. If you are already a Beastie Boys fan, you know. And you will get it. And you will love it. If you aren’t, well, you should be. Again, for obvious reasons.
Especially this gem of a post by Adam Horovitz, aka Ad-Rock; a list of things that we should buy him for his birthday. My favorite? What he wants to use to get to and from the studio. Of course, right?
Anyways. Beastie Boys forever. Again, for obvious reasons.

I am not sure if you guys remember this but in July of 2009 Adam Yauch (aka MCA) of the Beastie Boys announced that he had cancer. Haven’t heard much from him since then but my hubby is on the boys mailing list and received this awesome email yesterday:
hello,
wanted to send this out to you guys in case you were into it, or wanted to give it to anyone who you think might be.
a few friends and i are meditating at the same time twice a day. 9:30am and 6:30pm eastern standard time, for about an hour and half.
we are picturing smashing apart all of the cancer cells in the world.
we are visualizing taking the energy away from the cancer, and then sending it back at the cancer as lightening bolts that will break apart the DNA and RNA of the cells. if you have the time, please join us in whipping up this lightening storm. mind over matter……
if you prefer to sit then sit, but if you are not used to meditating, or sitting quietly doesn’t sound like fun, put on some music and dance while you do the visualization, and if you want to do it at some other time, or picture curing some other illness that’s fine too. yoko will be joining the meditation by visualizing all of us dancing with joy to celebrate the world without cancer. all variations are welcome. this is really just being done with a wish for all beings to be cured of all illnesses and to find true lasting happiness.
i’ll also be saying prayers for the earthquake victims in tibet, so join in on that if you can too.
please feel free to pass this onto anyone who you think may find it interesting.
with all my love,
adam yauch
Love it. Thought I would share.
Tanya: Very cool. I’m usually sitting at a desk zoned out and staring at a wall at both of those times anyway (7:30am & 4:30pm MST) so why not visualize the destruction of cancer while I’m at it?

I must be feeling extra feisty today because when I saw this above picture I just got annoyed. Why? Couldn’t tell ya. But I started doing some thinking. Firstly, who are these people and why are they on a gossip website? A quick look tells me they are Cobra Starship (???). Ya, not really sure who they are either. I think they do that extremely annoying song “Good Girls Go Bad”.
Upon further investigation I have also discovered they are quite the copy cats (or cobras), riding on the coat tails of what has already been created by someone else. They did a song called “I Kissed a Boy” after Katy Perry’s insanely popular “I Kissed A Girl”. They also released an album called ”Viva La Cobra” after Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”.
And, after a long hard look at this picture, I figured out what annoyed me so much. Someone else has already done this look. And they are infinitly cooler and more talented than these Cobra guys; a little someone known as the Beastie Boys.
Hey, I am all for influence, copy cat is the best form of flattery. But for it to be considered flattering doesn’t it have to be at least a half decent rip off? This band isn’t even playing in the same ball park as th beastie Boys. And can’t these guys do anything that’s original? Why is this group even considered popular or good? I don’t get music now a days.
Tanya: The above photo is going to be my family Christmas card this year. The hubby & I will hold hands and we’ll tie the cat up so she can have her arms out in the back ground. But instead of safety overalls we’ll wear Christmas sweaters.

July 20th, 2009MusicSome sad news today coming from the Beastie Boy’s camp. Earlier in the day Adam Yauch (aka MCA) posted the above YouTube video letting his fans know that he will be having surgery next week to operate on what he says is a “treatable” cancerous tumor. Watch the above video to get all the details. While all cancer is serious, it sounds like he will be able to over come this once he receives the required treatment.
I L-O-V-E the Beastie Boys. They were on my “Bands I need to see before I die” list. My hubby surprised me with a trip to Vancouver a few years back when they toured to support The 5 Boroughs. I waited in line for like 5 hours to be front and centre for the show. They were AMAAAAAZING….didn’t disappoint, played everything I wanted to here and then some. Its amazing to see those guys kick it like they can even though they are all in the 40s.
Hopefully all his fans out there are able to learn from MCA’s experience…always make sure you are listening to your body and make sure that you get a check up on anything that you are unsure or worried about. You can never be too careful when it comes to your health and early detection is the key to treating cancer.
Lets send all our positive energy and healing thoughts to MCA and his family and friends during this time.

April 5th, 2009MusicRun-DMC and Metallica have both been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Yay!
The induction on Saturday was the first to be open to the public and Billboard reports that almost 5,000 fans showed up to party in the balconies while VIPs dined at tables which cost as much as $50,000 each. Wow.
Both Metallica and Run-DMC are great groups and I’m glad to see them inducted
Without them music would be suckier. Now that more hip-hop groups are going to be eligable to the “Rock & Roll” Hall of Fame do you think they’ll induct them, exclude them because they’re not rock and roll, or change the name to be more inclusive such as the “Music Hall of Fame”?
Here’s some vids:
Down with the King
Until it Sleeps
Stacey: Metallica’s Black Album was the first tape I ever owned…I have since grown out of them, but their induction into the Hall of Fame is well deserved.
Hip Hop in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? It will be interesting to see what they do from here on out. Will Rap be included as well? Maybe they should have categories because I would hate to see a great rock band not get in because a hip hop artist did…but I am biased. I am not a hip hop fan. But I do feel Run DMC has contributed a great deal to music and shouldn’t be excluded just because of their music genre.
I’d like to see the Beastie Boys get in there.
Tanya: The Beastie Boys are more rock than rap/hip-hop so I’m sure they’ll get in no problemo when they’re eligable.
