Best Movie Poster Ever.

So who really was the worst  of the worst last year? Here’s the list of the movies, actresses and actors who are nominated for sucking BIG TIME last year. Mostly it’s The Last Airbender, Twilight Eclipse and Sex & the City 2, but you can check out the full list and our opinions after the jump. But first I’d like to defend Twilight Eclipse: sure the acting was full fontrum, and the directing was pretty bad but it is EXACTLY the same as the book and you know the author was on hand to make sure it stayed that way so I’m putting most of the blame for that movie on her, not on the people trying to make it less lame.

Well, Tanya and I (accompanied by my mom…hi mom!) finally made it out to the movies to see Eclipse last night.  Why did it take you so long you might ask?  Especially after we bought our tickets in advance for New Moon (for shame Tanya and Stacey, for shame!)?  Well, after paying $12.50 to see that movie I decided that never again would I pay full price for a movie from the Twilight Saga.  $5.00 at the cheap theatre is plenty.

Not only can Twilight cause stinky farts and maybe cancer, but it could also possibly kill you.

A 23 year old man was found by staff in a New Zealand theatre after a screening of Eclipse. Police are investigating the cause of death and say there are no obvious signs of injury.

Think it’s possible that he died of boredom? Or maybe he couldn’t take the anxiety of not moving past second base? Or maybe he’s on Team Jacob and Bella messing around with Jacob’s feelings just broke his heart. Awwww. But he must have been there alone because his friends would have probably noticed that he didn’t get up to leave his seat after the movie. Weird.

If you’re looking to get out of going to see Eclipse you now have a good excuse: people DIED going to see it.

Stacey: Its like the first scene is Scream 2 when Jada Pinkett gets killed in the movie theatre giong to watch a movie about the Woodsburough murders.  Maybe some tried to suck his blood!

Eclipse is opening this weekend, as if you didn’t already know.  And we all know that it is going to break all kinds of records.  Are you going to see it?

If you have been reading here long enough you know that this site started basically so Tanya and I could banter back and forth about…Twilight.  In fact, I think our very first post was about Taylor Lautner.

But between now and then, something has shifted.  I am really not all that excited about Eclipse.  Why?  Maybe because I have started to realize how shallow and hollow this books really are; how little literary value they actually offer.

Tanya got me hooked on Harry Potter this past February.  And I am on the last book right now. And I was just telling Tanya about how much I love these books.  Because, while they are about wizards and witches, these books are real.  They have real characters with real depth and real problems.  And these real problems have real consequences.  Characters die.  Important characters.  Characters you love and when they go, you cry for them.  Unlike Twilight which panders to the teenage girl hormones.  And there are no consequences for any actions; not for kissing someone who isn’t your boy friend, not for fighting extremely dangerous enemies, nothing!

Nothing real happens in these books!  And if any of you say”But Edward and Bella fall in love”, I am going freak out.  Because falling in love at 17 or what ever she is, isn’t real love; its lust.  And both Edward and Jacob are terrible love interests because they are both equally bad for her.  And Bella is the most annoying, selfish character ever written; an extension of Stephanie Mayer’s selfish desires and wishes.

And here to better support my point is an article that Lainey posted.  Its a long read, but its a good one, about why this movie series is so bad.

With that being said, am I going to see Eclipse?  Yes.  But not until its in the cheap theatres.  And I won’t be wearing my “Team Jacob” t-shirt this time.  IN fact, I will probably go in disguise.  And be ashamed of myself the whole time.

Tanya: Eclipse brought in $30 million in it’s midnight showing – which broke the record that was held by Transformers: Rise of the Fallen (Revenge of the Fallen?? Don’t make me look it up). Wow. That’s a lot of girls sneaking out past curfew to watch a movie.

I know you will probably hate me for saying this because everyone loves Robert Pattinson but this suit.  This suit is a fail!  It is a complete rip off of Ron Burgundy.  And that isn’t a compliment.

And while the fit is great, the color is awful.

And he calls us nerds?  Please.

I do like the new hair though.

Tanya: Sorry Stacey, but I disagree. I think the colour is great on him. I like that it’s different than the usual, it’s classy and it’s a great cut too. Too bad he’s been too busy filming Water for Elephants  with Reese Witherspoon and hasn’t been making the promotional rounds with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

Stacey: Abain proving how we have managed to remain friends for so long; we have completely different taste in guys.  Thank goodness!

Forget Peter and Jennie.  I am digging on Kellan and AnnaLynne.  These two are both smokin’ hot and a little more our age.

I like that these two are walking the carpet together.  It seems like it has been a few years of them dating and its been really are they or aren’t they.

Tanya: I totally dig that they’re doing the red carpet together. Maybe that means they’re getting more serious

AnnaLynne is hot but she kinda looks like the poor man’s Charlize Theron. Great eyes, great hair, but she doesn’t emit the same level of class that you get from Charlize. Maybe it has something to do with her boob practically hanging out of her dress.

I know you probably won’t agree with me but I love this dress on Kristen Stewart.  I think she is rocking it.  Not so much with the hair, the hair looks messy and unkempt but the dress is hot.

I love that she is taking risks on her fashion.  She is young, hip, beautiful, trendy, and alternative so why not, right?

Buy my book! I heart Edward!

Stephenie Meyer has a new book coming out to tide the Twihards over until Eclipse comes out and she’s recommending that you buy it before seeing the movie:

“When there is so much going on off-stage so to speak, it leaves a lot of mysteries,” she says. “Of all the Twilight books, Eclipse has the most going on outside of Bella’s view. For the movie to work, we have to see and understand some of these things.”

I do see where she is coming from, and if you read the draft of Midnight Sun (Edward’s interpretation of the book Twilight) it makes his “pained” (aka “constipated”) expressions make more sense. And it’s always nice to see the scene from another point of view.

But at the same time it seems like a cash grab because if you haven’t noticed by now: Twilight sells. Big time. And it swept the MTV Movie Awards last night – so clearly people love it. So why not put out a short story and take advantage of it?

People.com says that you’ll be able to read the book novella for free at breetanner.com starting June 7th, but it’s already the 7th and I don’t see anything live, so in the meantime I’d recommend clicking the link in this side panel ———-> and buying it from Barnes & Noble. Not only do you get your fix, but you will be supporting us! Yay!

Stacey: I will not be buying or reading this book.  I don’t need to know more about Twilight.  Especially from a character’s point of view that up until this point I didn’t even know about.

But it will sell.  Because people are sheep and will buy anything that is related to these books.

Who am I to talk though?  I am pretty sure I would read anything JK Rowling would put out with regards to Harry Potter.

Correction: the secondary ladies of Twilight, were on hand and Vanity Fair to do a photo shoot to promote Eclipse.

The interviewer for this piece seems kinda like “urgh, Twilight shoot. Why prep for that?” because she doesn’t know who Julia Jones is or plays, she gets Dakota Fanning’s birthday way wrong, and the only person she shows interest in is Bryce Dallas Howard because “Bryce is the daughter of Ron Howard”. Isn’t it an unspoken rule (or maybe loudly spoken, I don’t know) that both interviewers and celebs have to pretend to be interested in the interviews?

I think Julia Jones is the perfect casting for Lea Clearwater. I am excited to see her in the role. And in some other roles too, but it look like her only other movie right now is Jonah Hex with Megan Fox.

Stacey: Lets be honest here.  Do any of us care about the secondary ladies of Twilight?  I didn’t think so.

Wait, are there zombies in Eclipse? I don’t remember any from the books, but watch this new Twilight Eclipse trailer and see if you can honestly tell me that it doesn’t look like a zombie movie. Especially the part where they’re all coming out of the lake.

Stacey: Ya, I was a bit confused by that as well.  It looks entertaining though.  I’ll go see it.

For the record, I think I have lost my love for these movies.  I couldn’t have been less enthused whilst watching this.  Maybe its because I no longer have a vested interest in Jacob?  Damn you Lainey.
