OMG.  The final Harry Potter trailer.  Amazing.  Its almost here!

Tanya:!! I can’t wait!! Although, it does feel like they gave away the entire movie with that trailer.

I get goosbumps when I see these previews. 

Stacey.  Me too!  So.  Awesome.  I cannot wait. 

Every time I watch a preview for this movie  I wish I could use my Harry Potter wand to do a memory charm on myself so that I could erase my memory of having read the books so that I could read them all over again.  I read all 6 books right in a row.  And I remember picking up the last book and thinking “Yes.  This is what it has all been about”.  And when I finished the book, closing it and feeling so satisfied, and thinking back in fondness of the characters and their experiences and the tears I cried over their deaths and the happiness I felt knowing what happened to each of them….I would give anything to do that again.  But seeing the previews reminds me of the feelings.  I can’t wait!

Only 3 more months!! I am crazy excited for the new Harry Potter.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 comes out July 15th and we now get a sneak preview of the opening scene. Check it:

Part 2 is going to be soooo good. I’m especially excited to see the action that goes down at Gringots.

Stacey: OMG so excited!  When we go, Tan, I am going to totally dork it up.  I am going to bring my wand that I got from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  And wear my awesome Griffendor scarf.  And bring my butter beer mug.  And eat my chocolate frog that I got from Honeydukes.

Oh, PS.  Someone told me about this new wand that is coming out that doubles as a channel changer.  Check it out.  It is totally awesome.

Tanya: Holy crap, that is awesome. I would totally buy a wand to change my channels with. I would also make up spells for it, but that’s because I’m a huge dork sometimes.

Stacey, your scarf, wand, mug, etc, sounds a little embarrassing, but to be honest I’m actually quite jealous.

In the gossip world you see a lot of “blind items” about people being supreme douches but no one wants to call them out by name for it. Usually it’s by industry insiders who would probably lose their jobs for tattling. For example, here’s one that’s been popping up all over this week:

This squeaky clean, late night talk show host is cheating on his wife. If you thought the Letterman thing was explosive, you have not seen anything yet.

Some of these I don’t even want to guess on because they make me sad. But I can’t refuse to give this one a little publicity. Someone made this postcard and sent it in to a media outlet:

Too good to be true, right? But it’s so much fun guessing! My money is on Fred and George. Some of the comments people putting out there are great too, like “if she was a real Harry Potter fan this would be bragging rights and high-fives all around!” or “I seriously doubt she slept with all of them and can’t pin point who the father is” or “wait till Rita Skeeter’s tell all book comes out, then we’ll know!” or “The only thing faker than this is the collected works of Gilderoy Lockheart”.

If he “never will” meet this kid, than what is the end goal? Just to defame them? Then why not point fingers directly at the responsible one? My guess is that this girl made it all up, and to be honest, I hope she did because it makes it more hilarious and less sad.

Stacey: I am going to guess that this is one of the older actors so maybe Alan Rickman?  The little girl could be grown up by know which would mean the fling happened years ago which would be why he couldn’t remember her name.  There!  Blind item solved.  It’s Alan Rickman.  Ok.  Maybe it’s not but its still pretty funny.

Here’s Helena Bonham Carter at the London premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and I’m tempted to say she looks less crazy than usual, but then again, she still looks absolutely crazy. I also can’t quite figure out if she gets herself intentionally styled like this (“no dear, I said make the hair a little bit curly, a little bit straight, back comb part of it then mess it all up like I’ve lived in a cave for 15 years”) or if it just happens to be the most ridiculous hair on the face of the planet so she just put a little clip in the front to keep some of it out of her face.

The outfit is cute though. I get the impression that she’s trying to look a little less “dark and troubled” for this premier. Maybe it’s because she’s been getting some buzz for The King’s Speach and she wants to seem a little more… approachable.

Stacey: Remember when Helena used to be concidered hot?  When she was in Fight Club and in Maxim?  I thnk she is gorgeous.  And just super kooky.  When you are rich, famous, artistic you can be pretty much any way you want.  She’s interesting, thats for sure.

Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint were all on hand in London to premier Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and holy crap, Emma Watson looked smokin’ hot.

There’s pictures of DanRad and Mr Grint over at Celebitchy, but I’m saving this space for Emma Watson who is my girl-crush of the moment. Smart and beautiful.

Only one more week ’till we North Americans get the new Harry Potter!!

Stacey: I am.  So.  Excited.  We saw a preview on TV the other day and I got goose bumps.  Goose bumps! So excited.

Danica McKellan (aka Winnie Cooper from the Wonder Years) had a little baby today and named him Draco. Yes, Draco. Every kid at school is going to instantly NOT want to be this kids’ friend because without him Dumbledore might still be alive.

Stacey: When I first read your post title I thought you meant someone “took” Tom Riddle…and all I could think was “OMG…someone stole Tom Riddle?  How do you steal a character?”.  But then I read your post and got it.

I like the name Draco but not for a kid.  Do you think she named him after the character?  Didn’t you want to name your kid Draco, Tanya?

Secretly, one of my favorite names for a boy is Tiberius.  Yes, like James Tiberius Kirk.  Not for that character but just cause the name is totally awesome.  That and Percival.  Again, not for Dumbledore (one of his middle names) but a totally awesome name.

Tanya: I didn’t want Draco, I like the name Lucious. Sure he he’d have to share the name with Lucious Malfoy who is a douche, but he’d also share the name with Lucious Fox who is more than awesome enough to make up for it.

Tiberious is a cool name. So is Percival. Your kid might get beat up but whatever doesn’t kill them makes them stronger, right?

After reading Lainey’s article about watching Eclipse, which was a little mean but incredibly funny, Tanya and I decided we still want to see Eclipse.  But then I thought, how can we like both Harry Potter and Twilight?

Our exchange:

Stacey:

I think I have become a HP snob now.  Like, how can anyone like those other books when you could like Harry Potter.  It’s like, do you have a really awesome friend that is friends with someone you can’t stand and think “how could she possibly like both of us”?  That’s how I feel about HP and Twilight.

Tanya:

I know what you mean. But it’s like enjoying both organic filet mignon with a delightful red wine reduction and McDonalds Chicken Nuggets. One takes a lot of time and care to make perfect and the other is mechanical, heartless and probably gives you cancer. The filet will keep you strong and healthy and the nuggets will probably give you the sh*ts but they’re both delicious. Just in different ways. When you finish Harry Potter you have a warm full belly, and when you finish Twilight you get the farts, but both satisfied the need for a world that is both different and relateable at the same time.

Twilight is crap, but it good too. Harry Potter is the best of the best so it’s hard to compare to anything, really. I had a hard time picking a book to read after I finished HP because I knew that nothing would be the same

Stacey:

I am going to post that.  Love it.  Did you compare Twilight to giving you the sh*ts?

For the record, I love Twilight.  While it may not seem like it right now, because I am in love with Harry Potter, I do love Twilight.  Shamefully.

Tanya: Don’t get me wrong here: I like Chicken McNuggets. And I like Twilight. But when you really think about it, both of them are not good. Harry Potter is… well.. like I said to Stacey: it’s hard to read anything after reading Harry Potter because it IS that good.
