We’re onto day, what, eight (?) of Kanye West on Twitterand the fun continues! Today, instead of calculating what it must cost to roll like Kanye, the fun is taking Kanye West’s Tweets and using them as captions for cartoons from New Yorker.
Thanks to Paul and Storm for the idea, you can see all of the cartoons here on Flickr and I’ve added some of my faves after the jump.Stacey: Now that Kanye seems to have a sense of humor about himself I find him much more interesting.

This is the highlight of my day (yes, seriously): the good people over at NY Maghave been following Kanye West for his first six days on Twitter and have added up what it costs to live like Kanye West. Here’s some examples:@kanyewest: watching Avatar on the bis screen … Ruby Red mixed with the Grey Goose … Vintage Versace glasses (not shades) … how you want it!!!
Avatar on Blu-ray: $21.99
Ruby-red-grapefruit juice: $4.14
Bottle of Grey Goose vodka: $52.99
Versace glasses: $198@kanyewest: I jog in Lanvin
Lanvin high-tops: $1,195
In summary, it would cost you $87,451.55to live like Kanye for a week (less than a week) if you bought the same stuff he did.
I can only hope that “What Did it Cost to be Kanye This Week” becomes a weekly article.
Stacey: Do you follow Kanye’s Twitter? If you don’t, you should. Because as much as I dislike him, his tweets are pure gold.

Here’s Lady Gaga attending her sister’s graduation today and I really, really hope that something crazy like this happens at my graduation ceremony. On that note I’d like to apologize for the light/ maybe non-existent posting today. Instead of sitting at my computer catching up on gossip I’ll be sitting through a crazy long ceremony to receive my degree. Yay! (<— that’s me tooting my own horn)
In other graduation news, this year Meryl Streep got an honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Harvard. She pretty much did nothing (with the exception of being an award winning actress) to get a Doctorate. Meanwhile, I worked my ass of (OK, I picked a lot of really easy courses) for 8 years to get my degree.Maybe next year I’ll finally get the Honorary Doctorate of Awesomeness.
Stacey: Yay Tanya! Way to go!
And Gaga is such a hot mess.

Like Stacey, I am also trying to be a little nicer in some of my posts. But then you get a gem like this. I honestly do not think that this outfit was chosen because she thought it looked good. This outfit was selected for attention. Just like this one, and this one and this one. And that’s just this week at the Paris Fashion Week. I’m not going to say anything mean about the outfit because frankly, it speaks for itself. I am going to say something about Amber: she wants to stand out and get her photos in the mags. And she is succeeding.Stacey: She kind of looks like Mimi in this picture. And I can’t really think of a reason why she would wear this outfit other than to stand out. Maybe to stay warm? I don’t know. But she is definitely standing out. I imagine that material would be really itchy. It looks itchy.

Sorry for the double post on Miss Amber Rose today but I saw this picture and it was just too good not to post.
Its a head scratcher all right.
And have you ever noticed that Kanye and Amber have the exact same hair cut. They are even wearing the same shades. I am just happy they aren’t wearing the same outfit
Tanya: Amber would probably look good in that scarf. Why don’t you like it?

But in all seriousness, when your BF is wearing jeans, a sweater, a jacket and a scarf, it might be a sign that it’s too cold to wear your mesh dress. -

Its been a really long time since we posted anything about Amber Rose. Probably since after his tantrum like out burst at the MTV Music Awards, Kanye West has either been in hiding OR behaving, I can’t tell which.
But anyways, I figured what better time to post about her than when she is looking all ghetto fabulous and enraging animal lovers across the world with her head to toe fur coat.
While this is an opinion blog I will not get into the whole fur debate. I will say this though. As mush as I would not wear this jacket because I would feel like I am wearing my dogs fur, I think she looks awesome. I especially love her shoes. However, I don’t love the fact that the coat is covering her ass. And I could do without the Kanye.
Tanya: Amber looks hot. And the fur looks good even though I’m not a fur person. If we had “ethical fur” I’d go for it, but we don’t. This animal (or animals) probably did not need to die for any reason other than Amber to look fabulous. For shame Amber Rose, for shame.

Last week I gave Lindsay Lohan a hard time for being the crappiest salesperson out there. Today I take it back. Here is Amber Rose in what looks to me like the newest tights from Lindsay’s collection.
Stacey: Or….does this make Lindsay the best sales person because people are clearly following her “fashion trends”? Or is this just something that trashy people do? I am going with option B.

Rolling Stone has released their list of the Top 100 Albums of the last decade. Here’s the top 10:- Radiohead: Kid A
- The Strokes: Is This It
- Wilco: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
- Jay-Z: The Blueprint
- The White Stripes: Elephant
- Arcade Fire: Funeral
- Eminem: The Marshal Mathers LP
- Bob Dylan: Modern Times
- M.I.A.: Kala
- Kanye West: The College Dropout
And from the Top 100 Song of the decade here are the top 10:
- Gnarls Barkley — “Crazy”
- Jay-Z — “99 Problems”
- Beyoncé — “Crazy in Love”
- Outkast — “Hey Ya!”
- M.I.A. — “Paper Planes”
- The White Stripes — “Seven Nation Army”
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs — “Maps”
- Amy Winehouse — “Rehab”
- U2 — “Beautiful Day”
- Eminem — “Stan”
Thoughts on the lists:
Albums: When Kid A came out I listened to it non-stop for a year. It went from my CD player in my room to my discman and back to my CD player. I only stopped listening to it on a daily basis when Amnesiac came out the next year and it got put into heavy rotation.
8/10 of those albums are really, really awesome. I own those 8 and will listen to almost all of them on a somewhat regular basis. The exceptions are Arcade Fire (which I haven’t heard but now want to), Bob Dylan (which I have heard and think it should not be in the top 10 top anything), and The Marshall Mathers LP (I own it and loved it at the time but don’t listen to it much now; but it should still be on the list.
Overall I have to say I was really surprised that I agree with much of this list. Bob Dylan got more love than he should have and Tool got the shaft but I guess we can’t all win. Except for U2 who I think got every album they released in the last 10 years on the list. They weren’t all that great people.
Songs: “Crazy” is a good song but not the best of the decade. “Maps” might only be famous because of RockBand. “Stan” is a good song, but Eminem had better and other people had better too. As for the rest – no complaints
And Stacey – they tell us their methodology! Basically the editors of Rolling Stone picked their favourite bands and then they all (editors and the band members) listed their top 25 favourite albums of the decade. It might just be a coincidence but many of the artists picked to do the voting have albums on the list. I’d totally vote for my own album too!
Stacey: Ok, I can buy Kid A as the best album of the decade. To be honest, I can’t judge either of these lists very well because I have bought a handful of albums mentioned on this list. The majority of the albums I bought weren’t commercial hits. But I am ok with that cause most music now adays is total crap. I was happy to see Fiona Apple get some love on there. She is great.
Another truth. I don’t “get” MIA. I don’t. So for Paper Planes to be one of the best songs of the decade…I just don’t know. But glas to see they have some sort of methodolgy. Even if I don’t agree with it. Us here at I Smell Smut have devised an excellent grading system that I feel more magazines should employ

In a radio interview the other day 50 Cent called the Kanye West & Lady Gaga tour “the Gay Tour“. I only one 1 person who had bought tickets to this mess and he is a flaming ‘mo, so maybe Fiddy was on to something…Anyway, the Gay Tour has been officially called offand no reason was given. Some people are saying that Kanye & Gaga couldn’t agree on the production of the show, or that Lady Gaga wants to do a solo tour, that the ticket sales were really low, or that Kanye is actually taking the time off to refocus himself like he told Jay Leno he would.
If you did by tickets to the mess that would have been the biggest Ego tour of all time, you can get a refund from the place you bought them at.
Stacey: I am actually surprised that the ticket sales would be low…isn’t Gaga, like, the biggest thing out there right now? I guess Kanye doesn’t have that big of a following in Calgary. Odd since isn’t he supposed to be the greatest artist of all time…according to him.

September 15th, 2009Random Scent, TelevisionHere is Kanye on Jay Leno last night. Jay sat down and had a talk with Kanye about the now infamous incident from the VMAs. The best part of the 4 minute clip is when Jay asks Kanye what his mom would have thought about what happened. Kanye pauses for a long moment and tears up. As much as Kanye acted like a douche, it was a heart felt, genuine moment.
I admire Jay for how he handled the situation. He didn’t ridicule him or make light of the situation. He sat down and talked to him man to man, and I think said what really needed to be said to Kanye. Not in a million words, but in one question, that clearly got to Kanye.
As for Kanye…he does appear truly remorseful. Will he change his ways? I think the world is tired of his antics and if he wants to stay relevent, he will need to. If he truly wants to be a better person, he will need to.
Me? Have I forgiven him? Undecided. I will save my judgement for how he handles this situation moving forward. A tiger says he wants to change his stripes…but is it that easy? What he did was mean spirited and self indulgent and not the first time he had done something like this. But I do believe everyone deserves a second chance.
Tanya: Personally I’d stop inviting him to award shows. Remember when he stormed out of the American Music Awards in 2004 because HE was the best new artist and it was a conspiracy that he didn’t win? Or at the 2006 MTV Europe Awards when Justice won for best video and he ran on stage and said that he should have won because it “cost a million dollars and Pamela Anderson was in it.” “I paid a million. It took a month to film. I stood on a mountain. I flew in a helicopter over Vegas . . . . I did it all to be the king of all videos.”
It’s fun to watch him have hissy fit, but the problem with his outbursts is that he’s discrediting and belittling the work that other people have put into their music and videos. As an artist he should have a little more respect.
