Awkwardly enough, Kanye West and someone else showed up to Paris Fashion week last week wearing the same red leather outfit as well. Think Kanye’s fashion is catching on or does he deserve any fashion influence credit at all?

You know.  Sometimes Kanya West says things that truely amaze me.  And not in a good way.  Here is one of his Tweets that are making the rounds today:

an abortion can cost a ballin’ nigga up to 50gs maybe a 100. Gold diggin’ bitches be getting pregnant on purpose. #STRAPUP my niggas!

I think I understand what he is trying to say…you know, wear your rain coat otherwise someone will get pregnant. But I just…it just offends me for some reason.  Maybe it’s how he is saying it or maybe that he is making it sound so trivial, like money is the only important thing here?  I don’t know.

Anyone else feel the same way I do?

Tanya: I think it’s the “bitches be getting pregnant on purpose” – like the guy has nothing to do with it? Wrap it up if you don’t want to deal with these things.

What offends me is that some people actually do this stuff so they can get a pay out.

The look on Vanessa’s face says “OMG. Like, I am like totally cool enough to have my picture taken with Kanye.”

The look on Kanye’s face is telling me “Who is this bitch sitting beside me?  Is she a seat filler?”

Tanya: I would love some gossip with these two hooking up. It’d be a good move on Vanessa’s part: Kanye West > Zac Efron

Dear Kanya West,

I am not entirely sure why you feel a young girl whom you embarrassed in front of millions of people should defend you in any way, shape or form, but clearly you are blinded by your own ego, which, by the way, you promised to keep in check.

The only person that seems to have an issue with what is happening is you.  Maybe you haven’t truly forgiven yourself for it, even though you Twitter-ranted about how you have.  Maybe you are still ashamed of your behavior because you crushed a young woman’s moment which should have been about her but you had to make it about you.  Well, my friend, as the old saying goes, don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

It was your own antics that caused the uproar, not hers.  And, if I am not mistaken, she has barely spoken about it but you can’t seem to keep your big trap closed about the whole thing.

So on behalf of myself, and all others out there who are fed-up/annoyed with your giant ego and your big mouth…

Please, just shut the F up already!

PS  For the record, Taylor was famous with or without you.  Furthermore, she showed maturity and poise beyond her years in how she handled that situation, something you clearly do not have the capacity to understand or to emulate yourself.

Tanya: Taylor Swift probably did get extra attention after that whole ordeal and quickly became a household name because of it. However, making someone more notorious by being an ass to them is not a service that you should expect a Thank You card for.

Now Kanye West, who never misses a moment to throw in his two cents, is also reflecting on that day and is actually pretty sensitive about the whole thing:

“I definitely can understand the way he feels to be accused of being a racist in any way, because… the same thing happened to me. I got accused of being a racist, and… with both situations, it was a lack of… compassion that America saw in that situation. You know with him (Bush), it was a lack of compassion with him not… taking the time to rush down to New Orleans. With me, it was a lack of compassion of cutting someone off in their moment. But nonetheless, you know I think we’re all quick to pull, like a race card, in America.
“Now I’m more open and the poetic justice that I feel to have went through the same thing that he went through, and I really more connect with him on just a humanitarian level because that next morning, the next morning when he felt that, I felt that same thing too (sic).”

Uh, I’m not too sure anyone was thinking that Kanye was being racist when he crushed Taylow Swift on live television. I think we all just agreed that he was being a giant D-Bag. But, it does show that Kanye is getting a little introspective which is nice, and I do have to agree with him that we do pull the race card way to fast. Some people are just cranky, jaded, and non-caring to everyone and other people are just super sensitive. I’m sure we call “racism” WAY more than it’s warranted. Some people are just rude to everyone. But I don’t mean to diminish racism either, it’s totally out there which is awful.

Now that we’ve covered that, hopefully we can move on from it. Until Kanye does something stupid again, then we’ll have to hear all about all of this again “it was like that time I called George Bush out for being racist and crushed a little girls dreams. Everyone hated me for it then, but…”

Stacey: I think you pretty much summed it up for me, Tan.  Why does it always seem like it’s “poor Kanye”?

About a week after the storm hit NBC aired a telethon asking for help for the victims of Katrina. We had celebrities coming in to ask for money. And I remember it vividly because I hosted it. And at one part of the evening I introduced Kanye West. Were you watching?
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH:
Nope.
MATT LAUER:
You remember what he said?
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH:
Yes, I do. He called me a racist.
MATT LAUER:
Well, what he said, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH:
That’s – “he’s a racist.” And I didn’t appreciate it then. I don’t appreciate it now. It’s one thing to say, “I don’t appreciate the way he’s handled his business.” It’s another thing to say, “This man’s a racist.” I resent it, it’s not true, and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my Presidency.

This passage is sad for so many reasons.  For one, because G.W. just can’t get out of his own way.  For two, because he gives something Kanye West says so much weight that he actually ranks it the lowest of all of his lows as President.  Really?  Really?  I am not sure what is worse; his trivializing the truly terrible things that happened during his presidency (Katrina, 9-11, the Iraq and Afghan Wars, the Economic Crisis) or the idea of him inflating the already over-sized ego of Kanye West…does he actual care that much what Kanye says?

The one good thing about this story though is getting to go back and watch the video clip of when it happened and seeing Mike Myers face when he said it.  Please. It was amazingness.

“With the passing of Michael Jackson, I feel a responsibility to bring things to our generation that can inspire and bring real culture to pop culture. I don’t sleep any more thinking how we are going to fill this gap, and create something to inspire on the level he did.”

And

I promised I wouldn’t tear up… but have you heard of a little thing called Lindsay Lohan’s Ungaro collection? That was like the 9/11 of fashion. It was game over for me after that as no one would take a celebrity trying to do fashion seriously.

“Being discriminated because I’m a rapper at fashion week. I quit music for six months because fashion did not take me seriously.”

And

“Most people will be like, ‘I guess it’s OK Beyonce’s video didn’t win.’ That’s not me. After the MTV thing I quit doing music. I had to get back into the world’s grace. I went to Japan, Hawaii, to get away. I thought I was going to give it all up. It’s only through divine intervention that I am here today.”

(wait, did he quit music because of Taylor Swift or because the fashion industry wouldn’t take him seriously…?)

“I don’t want to be put in the hip-hop box, I’m an artist. Hopefully I’ll hook up with George Lucas and do a film about yellow people with beaks.”

And my personal favourite:

“I’m like a tree, I feed the branches of the people.”

Stacey: Crying over bad fashion?  Where is the more humble Kanye that we were all promised.  He went away then came back a bigger douche than before.

In other graduation news, this year Meryl Streep got an honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Harvard. She pretty much did nothing (with the exception of being an award winning actress) to get a Doctorate. Meanwhile, I worked my ass of (OK, I picked a lot of really easy courses) for 8 years to get my degree.

Maybe next year I’ll finally get the Honorary Doctorate of Awesomeness.
