"Let's go heckle your wife!"

I don’t know if this is true, but it is my favourite story of the day:

This Valentine’s Day, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick both went to the restaurant Odeon in New York’s TriBeCa neighborhood. However, the married couple didn’t come to the restaurant together. SJP was seated with an unidentified man believed to be her date for the night – “She was feeding him food off of her plate,” said a source, “and they looked pretty intimate to me.” As for Parker’s husband? Broderick walked in with friends Casey Affleck and Ben Stiller and sat at a table where they could view Parker easily. As the group kept ordering drinks, Stiller loudly narrated everything that Parker and her date were doing at their table while Parker appeared mortified. According to fellow restaurant patrons, who overheard everything Stiller was saying in the small space, the guys knew that Parker would be there that night and came to Odeon with the sole purpose of embarrassing her. There are always rumours that Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick aren’t solid, but to go on a date on Valentine’s Day with another man is low. It’s also pretty low to call your buddies to go heckle your wife on her date. This is almost too good to be true which means that it probably is.

I normally think that Sarah Jessica Parker is less than attractive.  In fact, I think she usually looks like a malnourished horse/witch in high/ugly fashion.  But she looks fantastic in this picture.  Fresh, healthy, tanned.  And I am kinda jealous of that awesome outfit she is wearing.  Love the jacket.

And, for once, Matthew Broderick doesn’t look miserable to be with her.  He is even ….*gasp*… smiling!  And his maybe fancy vibe is dialled down in this picture too.

Its a good day to be SJP apparently…for once.

Tanya: I’m excited to see these two out together and to look happy about it. As much as I like that they don’t just turn on the sweetness for the cameras and show us a little sour sometimes, it makes me wonder if they’re happy together. Sure it’s incredibly unfair to judge the state of marriage of a couple I do not know and have only seen pictures of, but I do it. And you do too.

This picture cracks me up. Seriously, who scoots their kids to school like this? Maybe they could each get their own and that might make it a little more ‘normal’.

Stacey: I actually think this is super cute.  What a fun way to get around with your dad.  I mean, for now its fun.  If they are still doing this when he is 13 I will be a bit concerned.

On a side note.  I was driving home from the grocery store in my very suburban neighbourhood last night and saw about 15 kids all scooting down the road, each on a scooter.  I was concerned that perhaps a scooter gang had moved into the neighbourhood and were up to some no-goodnicks. It was pretty cute.  But also a little weird.

Have you ever been to a hat party? Everyone who comes has to wear a hat and usually they’re pretty ridiculous which leads to a lot of really funny moments. I’m not sure if that’s where Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick were headed when these photos were taken, but this photo becomes a little more normal if you pretend it is.

Stacey: You know, I may think that if they were just a little sillier.  But these two are two serious to be kidding.  These are really their hats.

Stacey: I think that this is the first picture I have seen in a long, long, loooooong time where Matthew doesn’t look a) in pain, b) uncomfortable, or c) like he is trying to escape the boney grasp of his wife…so, congrats to the couple for a healthy happy set of twins.  Their son is so cute too. 

Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick are now the proud parents of twin girls. Their rep told ABC:

“Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are delighted to announce the healthy arrival of their two daughters. Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick weighed 5 lbs, 11 oz and Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6 pounds. Both Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker’s side. The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon.”

Congrats to the Brodericks!

People is reporting that

“Two police chiefs are under investigation for allegedly planning a break-in at the home of the woman carrying the twins of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. According to news outlets in Ohio, the state’s Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation is looking into whether officers from the neighboring towns of Martins Ferry and Bridgeport masterminded a burglary in order to gather information that they could then sell to a tabloid newspaper.

Planning a break-in to get information to sell to tabloids is extremely un-cool. Being a police officer and doing it is even more so. Why would you risk your dignity and your job to do this? Oh yeah, money.

Matthew Broderick: Help me!  This skinny chick is clinging to me and sucking away my life force!  I would rather be hugging a porcupine.

Seriously, how unhappy does Matthew look?  Its alarming actually.  And still with those side burns!  Shave those babies already!  And Sarah Jessica Parker is holding on to him as if hugging him so tightly will make her happier.  Eek.  I am uncomfortable for them.

Broderick was on David Letterman last night talking about the impending birth of his twin girls via surrogate mom.  Apparently, their son, James Wilkie (love that name) has recommended that they buy lots of princess dolls.

I bet Matthew knows where they could get some…

That’s right.  I said it.

Tanya: SJP is glowing because she got some lovin’. Broderick is sad for the same reason. Girls are gross.

People magazine is reporting this afternoon that Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are expecting twins.  Wait!  before you go and try to find the baby bump in any pictures from the last few days…let me stop you because you won’t find one.  They are having the twin girls via a surrogate mother.

I would first like to say that I think surrogate mothers are wonderful.  I think it is an incredible gift to give someone if they are unable to have children.  Giving your body for 9 months and a labour is amazing.  And for the most part, normal.  In this case though, I think its…odd.

And here’s why.  These two have been dogged  by infidelity, divorce, and gay rumors for months.  And I totally bought into them.  I mean, when I look at these two, all I see is awkwardness and forced contact.  I mean, look at the look on Matthew’s face in this picture.  He looks like he is either being forced to be there or has poop in his pants…and he always looks like that with her! I know you disagree, Tanya, but he can’t be THAT un-photogenic all the time!

At any rate, congrats to Matthew and SJP.  They are reportedly “over the moon” about it.  Who started this whole “over the moon” crap?  It ridiculous and needs to stop.  Check out Dlisted for the “over the moon” watch.

Tanya: I didn’t believe you (about the twins, the poop in the pants I believed 100%) so I went to People to read the article. You speak the truth. I didn’t see that one coming. Still not sure what to think about it. Congrats to SJP & Broderick. … … ?

I don’t disagree about Broderick looking awkward. He does. He also always looks forced to smile. Maybe it’s because he is – and not just by SJP. By his agent, his producer, the PR people, etc. He has to do press junkets and premieres for this stuff all the time, maybe he just hates it and has a hard time hiding it.

They look more relaxed with each other this time around, though Broderick doesn’t look that relaxed.

Stacey: Yes, SJP looks much better.  See…this is cute and fashionable.  And normal.  And Matt has improved too…but the chops!  They have to go!  They are horrible and make him look like an old man.
