The I Smell Smut Team and some of our faithful readers (thanks for coming with us Megan and Carrie) made the pilgrimage to see New Moon last night.  We lined up a head of time, each wearing or respective team colors (I was Team Jacob and Tanya was Team Edward).  While waiting we reminisced about the last movie and reading the books, discussing our favorite parts and arguing who was better for Bella.  When the lights finally went down we were all literally giggling.  Well, I was, I can’t speak for everyone else.

So, the verdict?

It was actually really good.  Much better than I expected.  The CG is not half as bad is everyone is making it out to be.  In fact, it was refreshing to have some good action intertwined with all the drama.

My favorite part?  Duh! Jacob shirtless for like 80% of the movie.  The first scene when he does take off his shirt?  The whole theatre giggled.  I am telling you, there is no way that a 17 year old boy should look like that.  Its just not fair.

Least favorite part?  Edward and Bella.  Honestly, their entire relationship seems so pained and so sad…why are these two together?  Do they ever have any fun?

And here is the thing.  In the first movie I could understand a little bit why Bella would love Edward.  There were moments where he seemed fun, even good looking.  But in this movie all he could talk about was killing himself and how he couldn’t live without Bella and how he only existed to be with her.  How any woman (or girl) could be attracted to that morose, whiny, snively, wiener is beyond me.

And compared to Jacob?  First of all, he is gorgeous. Granted, he has a bit of an anger issue but the friendship that he and Bella have?  That is the base for which a true and profound love can develop.  The lusting, desperate, dangerous love that Bella and Edward have for one another is unhealthy.  And watching Bella string Jacob along brought back all the hatred I had for that character and, quite frankly, it made me want to punch her in the face.

I will say this for Bella though.  She has self control.  There is a scene in her bedroom where her and Jacob are talking and there is great chemestry between them.  All you can think is “Kiss him, kiss him, kiss him!” and she doesn’t, because she still loves Edward.  If I were her, I would have been making out with him all over the place.

And the chemistry!  I would even say that there was better chemistry between Bella and Jacob than there was between Bella and Edward.  Its true!  Maybe its because Taylor Lautner was actually really good in that role.  He didn’t over act *cough* Robert Pattinson *couch* and he came across as really believable.

So, overall, loved it!  In fact, I would go see it again.  I think it is getting a bad wrap.  People want to hate on it.  Is it an Oscar contender?  No, but it did what it was meant to.  It entertained.  I laughed, I cried (well, not cried but teared up for sure) and it made me so excited for Eclipse.   Only 7 more months!  WOOT!

Tanya: When I got home I pulled off my Edward shirt and threw it to the ground. Bella shouldn’t be with Edward. That is one of the most unhealthy relationships ever. I think I hate Bella. She is an empty shell. No personality, no charisma, nothing. Just a desire to be with Edward. Why does he like her? She really is like a pet. He’ll see how long he can go without killing her and when he does end up doing it – oh well. It’s not like she brought anything to the table. And I’m starting to hate Edward. He is a psychotic boyfriend. Stalking, threatening to kill himself, making her feel like an idiot for believing what he told her. “I lied to you and you believed it – what’s wrong with you?” Uh, shouldn’t she trust what her BF tells her? Not good. Jacob I love. He’s got his anger issues and should work on those but he was one of the only characters that was remotely compelling.

Best part of the movie – Victoria & the Warewolves fighting to Thom Yorke. Best actors – Taylor Lautner, Anna Kendrick and Kellan Lutz. The only characters that actually showed a little character.

I honestly thought I was going to dream about punching Bella in the face, which is exactly how I felt after reading the book New Moon, so I guess the movie is pretty true to the book. The movie was WAY better than expected. I rant because the whole situation is BS, but I still love it because I was a teenager with bad relationships like these and I can relate. I will see it again – but I’ll wait for the cheap theatres.

Can you smell who dealt it?

Two Twilight ladies, one question, two answers. One is a good PR answer, one is an incredibly wrong answer especially when you take into consideration their target audience.

Q: How did you keep in shape while filming Eclipse?

A1: “When you date someone who loves the outdoors, it’s inspiring,” … “I’ve learned from my boyfriend. I’ve taken on his lifestyle.” … She’s recently quit smoking and “Instead of gaining weight, I lost weight,” she says. “I started going to the gym and taking care of myself. I’m into outdoor sports like hiking, windsurfing, water-skiing. I’m much more active and much happier.”

A2: “It was really easy,” … “We were working 12 hours a day, so it didn’t leave too much time to eat.”

So, one actress quit smoking and got active to lose weight, the other cut back on eating. Which is which? (Get the answer after the jump!)

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart & Taylor Lautner in Paris for New Moon

I’m sure you are probably aware (because you obviously read this blog) that New Moon opened on the weekend. And people went to see it. LOTS of people. So many that it has set the new record for most most advance ticket sales and is now the 3rd highest grossing opening weekend movie after The Dark Knight and Spiderman 3. I bought advance tickets and went to the midnight screening for the Dark Knight (BATMAN!!!!) but for New Moon we’re gonna let the frenzie die down a little. We’re going on Wednesday

New Moon isn’t getting very good reviews – but come on, did you really expect it to?

Stacey: While I am definitly not expecting it to be an Oscar contender I am expecting it to be entertaining.  I can’t wait to see it.  Honestly, last night I had a dream about going to see the movie.  With Robert Pattinson.  Weird.  And sad. And FYI, Eclipse is being released in June so just when all the New Moon craziness dies down, another round will start it right up again. Can’t wait!

Scrath that.  Twilight moms are creepy.

Could you image being a mom with a grown ass kid and asking a 17 year old boy to sign your underwear?  Ya, me either. (Tanya, stop looking at me.  I don’t have kids and I don’t have Team Jacob underwear…yet).

But apparently someone did.  Here is my ever adorable Taylor Lautner telling Jay Leno about one such incident.  He is so cute, isn’t he?  Although, watching this clip reminds me of how young he actually is.

T: HAHAHAH! Soo good. I can imagine being a mom with a grown ass kid and asking a 17yr old boy to sign a book, bookmark, DVD, t-shirt or other non-intimate apparal. Especially not intimate apparal that I am wearing.

Stacey, I know you would have the curtesy to remove your underpants for signing BEFORE you got to the front of the line. You’re thoughtful like that.

Another day, another New Moon premiere.

Is it just me or do these guys look like they’re getting tired of doing this every day? Maybe it’s just that I’m tired of seeing them everyday…

Stacey: Don’t lie Tanya, you aren’t sick of seeing them.

And I am NEVER going to get sick of seeing Kellan Lutz.  So hot!  I know I have a soft spot for Taylor but it is much more appropriate for me to lust after Kellan.  Lust away, Stacey, lust away!

Love Dakota Fanning’s dress. I got to wear a similar one for a bridesmaid’s dress last month – yay for bridesmaid’s dresses that don’t suck!!

Another New Moon post!  So exciting! 

Here are Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart at the New Moon Premier in L.A. yesterday.  I love Kristen’s dress.  SO fun and sexy and cute.  Love her.

And my Taylor.  So handsome.  Although, I would love to see him in a paid of jeans some time. 

Yes, we are on a bit of New Moon over load, but you can’t say I didn’t warn you.  Only 4 more days until the official release so you won’t have to suffer through this much longer.  But don’t judge.  Unless you have read the books you just can’t understand.  You can’t.  And don’t think you are better because if you read the books you would fall under the spell too.

So funny! Kellan Lutz on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show for New Moon Monday and Kellan gets to play Edward. I think he nails it

In other New Moon news, New Moon is now the highest pre-selling movie of ALL TIME (or at least for the 10 years they’ve been keeping track). Did you buy advanced tickets? I shamefully (and excitedly) will admit that I have.

Stacey: We did buy tickets in advance.  Even after I said I wouldn’t.  I am ashamed but also so excited.  I am thinking of getting a Jacob shirt to wear as I heard that Tanya was gifted an Edward shirt and I have begged her to wear it.

As for Kellan, he is becoming one of my favs.  So hot!

On the other side of the world Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson were promoting New Moon in Germany. No idea if they are also calling the next Twilight flicks “guy friendly” because I didn’t read anything the article said about them – I just love the pictures

Kristen & Rob look much more comfortable this time around. When they were promoting Twilight last year they would go to great lengths to stand farther away from each other and to not make eye contact. I guess by this point they’ve gotten used to the fact that people will speculate that they are dating no matter what they do.

Stacey: I am hard core girl crushing on Kristen.  She is so hot!  Look at those legs!  She seems much more comfortable in her own skin, embracing her own style, rocking that hair cut.  She is awesome.  No wonder Rob is in love with her
