It is my general understanding that movie posters are supposed to a) give you a general idea of what the movie is about or b) garner interest in the movie because they are so awesome and/or mysterious.

This is poster for Taylor Lautner’s next movie, Abduction.  A movie who’s plot is “ A thriller centered on a young man who sets out to uncover the truth about his life after finding his baby photo on a missing persons website.”

Okay, is it just me or did no one else get that from this poster?  All this poster basically does is tell me that Taylor Lautner is in it and that is all.  Is it a comedy?  A drama?  A rom-com?  I can’t tell.  Because all I am seeing is his big, fat head.

But maybe that is what they want.  For everyone to know Taylor is in it.  To get all the Twilight people to go.  I mean, it’s not like it is a bad face or anything its just that it literally tells me nothing about this movie.  If it is a thriller, you can’t tell because he doesn’t look scared or angry or anything.  It just looks like they took a head shot and slapped it on some black background.

Tanya: This is what the movie poster says to me: a young man thinks he is the victim of some sort of injustice and does a bunch of really rash things to try and right the wrong that he feels was done to him. Only in the end he realizes that he was the bad guy all along.

You didn’t get that from his face and the fact that it is black with red text?

The smug smirk on Taylor Lautner’s face says it all: he totally got it on with his girlfriend right before they came to the airport. Hey-o!

Stacey: Either that or…”I just farted and I bet she is walking through it right now”.

    Best Movie Poster Ever.

So who really was the worst  of the worst last year? Here’s the list of the movies, actresses and actors who are nominated for sucking BIG TIME last year. Mostly it’s The Last Airbender, Twilight Eclipse and Sex & the City 2, but you can check out the full list and our opinions after the jump. But first I’d like to defend Twilight Eclipse: sure the acting was full fontrum, and the directing was pretty bad but it is EXACTLY the same as the book and you know the author was on hand to make sure it stayed that way so I’m putting most of the blame for that movie on her, not on the people trying to make it less lame.

A couple of days ago Tanya and I decided that all lawsuits should be settled by a push up contestand I also lamented that if Taylor Lautner’s people didn’t go for the RV business owner’s idea and give the money to charity, he would come across like a total douche.

Well, it turns out either Taylor or his people are total douches because they had this to say in response:

“McMahon RV’s response to our client’s legitimate claim further demonstrates the lack of professionalism that Mr. McMahon, his company, and his employees have exhibited from the outset, and that compelled the filing of this lawsuit in the first place.”

Lame.  However they did suggest a way to solve the problem.  Apparently the“welcome the opportunity for him to resolve the matter by making a $40,000 donation to the charity of Mr. Lautner’s choice.”

Really?  All this over a trailer?  If all quiver wasn’t gone beforeit sure is now.   Maybe he’s afraid he wouldn’t win?  What a weiner.

(Thanks to Cory for sending the story!)

Tanya:Hmmmm, I’m on Taylor Lautner’s side on this one. Lautner has offered to put the money up for charity which is good and his legal team is right: McMahon’s response to the lawsuit with a push-up contest is really unprofessional. We’d like to see it for good fun, but if you think of it from Lautner’s position he’s just being used for publicity by the same person who has already screwed him over before.

Stacey: All very valid points, Tanya.  I just think I am little turned off by the fact that he is even suing for this in the first place.  Emotion distress over not having a trailer?  It makes him seem like a dink.  True, challenging someone to push up contest is unprofessional, but I think it is in context with the absurdity of the lawsuit in the first place.

Taylor Lautner ordered up a super fancy $300,000 trailer from Brent McMahon’s RV dealership and said that it had to be done by a certain time so that he could have it for a movie he was shooting. The RV dealership missed that deadline and now Taylor Lautner is suing them for $40,000 because he had to stay in a regular trailer like no-name actors.

The owner of the dealership, Brent McMahon, knows a thing or two about how to drum up publicity for his company and is asking Taylor Lautner to not be a douche, but to have a push-up contest to decide the winner of this law suit. If McMahon wins, the $40,000 will be given to a charity.

I’m not sure if Brent McMahon has kids but if he has daughters this might also win him the title of “Father of the Year”.

I think all law suits should be settled in this manner. We’d probably all be in better shape and maybe people would sue other people less because push-ups aren’t the funnest thing in the world (well, neither is litigation).

Stacey: This is freaking brilliant on Brent’s part because anything Taylor does on his part that doesn’t involve this scenario makes him look like a bigger whinner/douche bag than this story already made him seem.  Please.  Suing over a trailer?  Ick poo.  And now not donating money to charity?  Double ick poo.

Eclipse is opening this weekend, as if you didn’t already know.  And we all know that it is going to break all kinds of records.  Are you going to see it?

If you have been reading here long enough you know that this site started basically so Tanya and I could banter back and forth about…Twilight.  In fact, I think our very first post was about Taylor Lautner.

But between now and then, something has shifted.  I am really not all that excited about Eclipse.  Why?  Maybe because I have started to realize how shallow and hollow this books really are; how little literary value they actually offer.

Tanya got me hooked on Harry Potter this past February.  And I am on the last book right now. And I was just telling Tanya about how much I love these books.  Because, while they are about wizards and witches, these books are real.  They have real characters with real depth and real problems.  And these real problems have real consequences.  Characters die.  Important characters.  Characters you love and when they go, you cry for them.  Unlike Twilight which panders to the teenage girl hormones.  And there are no consequences for any actions; not for kissing someone who isn’t your boy friend, not for fighting extremely dangerous enemies, nothing!

Nothing real happens in these books!  And if any of you say”But Edward and Bella fall in love”, I am going freak out.  Because falling in love at 17 or what ever she is, isn’t real love; its lust.  And both Edward and Jacob are terrible love interests because they are both equally bad for her.  And Bella is the most annoying, selfish character ever written; an extension of Stephanie Mayer’s selfish desires and wishes.

And here to better support my point is an article that Lainey posted.  Its a long read, but its a good one, about why this movie series is so bad.

With that being said, am I going to see Eclipse?  Yes.  But not until its in the cheap theatres.  And I won’t be wearing my “Team Jacob” t-shirt this time.  IN fact, I will probably go in disguise.  And be ashamed of myself the whole time.

Tanya: Eclipse brought in $30 million in it’s midnight showing – which broke the record that was held by Transformers: Rise of the Fallen (Revenge of the Fallen?? Don’t make me look it up). Wow. That’s a lot of girls sneaking out past curfew to watch a movie.

Kristen Stewart had another great fashion hit at the Swedish premiere of Eclipse. Love the metallic look and the asymmetric concentration of the detail on her dress. The girls gams don’t hurt either.

And Taylor Lautner… well… he looks the same. I think I’d rather see him in a suit than the ‘business casual’ look he’s got going on. Or maybe in some sneakers. Or with a t-shirt under the blazer. Something a little more unique. Come to think of it, what I want to see is something with a little personality.

Stacey: Yup, K-Stew looks awesome.  And Taylor, well, he looks totally boring.  But I am the opposite as you, Tan, I am glad to see him in something other than a suit.  It always seems like he is wearing the same suit.  But those shoes are horrificAnd the jean shirt needs to go.  I think he needs a new stylist, someone a little more daring.

But they are playing it safe, right?  Again, an appropriate crush for a younger girl, and not alarming to the parents.  Come on, wouldn’t you be thrilled if your daughter brought home Taylor rather than, lets say, Trace Cyrus

Ok, I know that I am going to probably enrage the Twilight nation with this statement but I am going to say it anyways.  Even though Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are dating, I just think that her and Taylor Lautner look better together.  I am not saying they should be together, just that they look better together.  They are both young, beautiful, clean. I don’t know.  There is just something about Rob that is so geeky and uncomfortable.  Granted, K-Stew and Taylor seem more comfortable together, like BFFs or brother and sister but did you see Kristen and Rob except the award for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie awards?  It was horrible!  Hardcore fontrum.

Eclipse opens in just a couple of weeks.  We are about to be bombarded with their image.  Brace yourselves.

Tanya: I’m ready for it! I’m not excited to see the movie, but I am excited to see these guys together. Seeing how “Cruise” Taylor Lautner is looking, how awkward Robert Pattinson can be and what Kristen Stewart is going to wear. I enjoy that :)

I’m glad Kristen has a better wardrobe budget this time around. She’s looking super hot. Seriously, how great is this dress on her?

After Lainey ruined my relationship with Taylor Lautner its been really hard to look at him and not see Tom Cruise.  And seeing him doing interviews and awards shows, he still seems like a robot.

But this picture reminded me that I still may have feelings for him.  He is just so young.  At least now he is legal.  I think over the next few years, he will hopefully grow his own personality and not one that his handlers have developed for him.  And maybe then I can think about loving him again.

Tanya: Yeah, maybe he’ll come into his own. I’m hoping for some more diverse roles, maybe some great girlfriends and a real life. Not just a made up relationship, but a real one with heartbreak that will help define his character. Oh yeah, and this photo might help:
